I’ve recently gotten a Samsung Q60 Series TV and the Samsung Q76R Atmos soundbar. I’ve connected the soundbar through HDMI ARC to the TV. But I’m not able to Direct stream DTS Audio from the Plex app on the TV. EAC3 seems to be working with no problems, but whenever I try to play media with DTS audio it starts to transcode.
I’ve checked with Samsung and the soundbar does support DTS audio, but I can’t seem to get it working with Plex at all.
I really need some guidance on how to get this to work so I don’t have to transcode media.

It doesn’t look like your TV supports passing through DTS. Check your TV’s audio settings to see if there maybe is an option that will allow you to turn this on.
What type of DTS audio is it? ARC only supports the 5.1 core.
Devices can do 1 of 4 things with audio. Decode it and playback on it’s internal speakers, decode and pass it along to another device, pass through the audio as-is to another device, or fail. Typically our Plex apps will know what a client can do and act accordingly. When it can’t do 1, 2, or 3, PMS will transcode the audio to something will work with one of those. So either your device can’t or the Plex app can’t detect what it can do, either way the only solution is to transcode.
The way around this would be for the app (Plex in this case) to handle 1 or 2, except the Plex app doesn’t support this. And no, it’s not something that can be added easily.
An alternative is to use your TV’s built in DLNA player which may be able to do this and access Plex’s DLNA server, but then you’d lose out on the Plex interface.
The only other option is to get a dedicated streaming box that supports DTS, connect that to your receiver, then connect your receiver to your TV.
