SD and HD versions of the same show

Hi Team - Suppose I recorded an old TV show in standard definition and then recorded it again later on in HD. I would like to have both versions available at the same time within Plex.

My question is how in Plex, can you differentiate the shows so that they can both be available at the same time?

Thanks in advance :slightly_smiling_face:

Possible, but why?

Put the 2 versions into totally separate folder structures.

Then, if Plex has matched them to be the same show, use the ‘Split’ command at the top ‘show’ level.

Couldnt they be stored together.
Most clients I use offer the “play version” option.
Granted I dont recall it it offers resolution in the choice but I assume the bitrate would give it away as to which is which?

Then you’ll have to select a version every time you want to start an episode.
With my approcach, you only have to press play on the right show’s poster and can binge on it.

Good point.
For movies its fine I guess but yeah for shows I totally missed it. As a binge watcher I would be so annoyed. :grinning:
Apologies.
