For the past several months, I have tried to search for titles on my very vast library (that spans four servers), only to discover later that my search had missed a title. When I first started using Plex, I found that searching on any phrase returned title and alternative title matches. But now it’s not returning alternative title matches. What has happened? Is that feature discontinued? Or do I need to change a setting in either Plex Media Server or my client(s)?
I suppose to be able to search by alternative titles, Plex needs to be aware of those. For all I know, Plex doesn’t store alternative titles in its database – so it’s very unlikely you can search by those.
Plex will however find items by their original and sort titles.
Plex started out being fully aware of alternative titles, as well as original and sort titles. What changed, and who made the change? I’d like to have that change rolled back.
All I say is I’m not aware of Plex ever finding titles that were not stored in the record (title, original title, sort title).
