'Search in this category' checkbox is missing

When I click on the forum’s Search button, there used to be a checkbox labeled 'Search [current category name]. Un-checking this box would allow searching the entire forum without backing out to the top.

This checkbox has been replaced with a redundant button to search the current forum:

The checkbox was more useful.

Weird, now I’m seeing a second line offering to search in all topics. When I took the screenshot in my OP, that wasn’t showing up.

This is getting confusing. Sometimes those options appear, and sometimes they don’t, and I can’t figure out when or why.

Additionally, when those options don’t appear, there’s no way to get to past the dropdown search results without selecting one. In the past, pressing Enter would do this. Now, Enter just refreshes the dropdown.

After a few weeks of trying to get used to the new search, I’ve come to the conclusion that it is a big step backwards from the old search. Please give feedback to Discourse asking them to undo these changes.

not sure where you were searching but the “this category” box only shows if you are in a category. Not in a topic or home page

I after hitting enter after the initial search, hitting it once more brings up full search page
