It would be wonderful if we could make this happen …
Specifically in a somewhat reasonable time frame. Love all the new stuff. But this one almost falls into the category of a base feature that was missed. Those of us who run large servers servicing large groups of people need the ability to broadcast messages.
The 100+ emails you receive otherwise is problematic.

Instead of scheduled messages, just simply being able to log into Plex.tv and switching the server to “maintenance mode” with a customizable message for estimated downtime. The owner of the server would have access, but all clients get the maintenance mode message.

Yes this! Why would you need to send annoying messages to people when you have this?
I just started sharing my Plex server the other day and I assumed such a feature would have been integrated already. Hope to see this in the near future!
I just started sharing my library with my family and friends and I would also want to send them messages that would appear on their Plex to inform them of service downgrade or whenever it is offline. Having that type of feature is good to have. At least they won’t think its there connection and continue to tirelessly connect when its not them. A small custom message would prevent that. Or if they are having issues with a connection, they can reach out to the administrator via plex.
