Server I claimed doesn't appear in the list

I’m trying to (re)claim a server - but when I do, it doesn’t appear in my servers list. If I go to Devices–>Servers, it’s listed there, and if I remove it I can again access the server - but I don’t seem to be able to use it once claimed.

Context: I’m running 1.10.1.4602 as an unRaid docker image. It was running fine for many months, but the server went into storage for 6 months. At a point in time, the (now unavailable) server dropped off my list of available Plex servers on my account, which I presume is normal after a while. I recently brought the server back on line, and whilst everything seems ok - all the media is there, the library is in tact etc - I just can’t persist a claim against it.

Struggling to make any progress. On the unRaid side, I’ve tried wiping and resetting the docker.img file.

Only additional info I can find is if, after claiming, I go to give a user access to the server, the server is listed, but marked as unavailable.

If, on this same page, I expand the details of ‘unavailable’, I get

Version 1.10.1.4602
Address
Port

I’m doing all this through the localhost
so it does seem that as soon as it’s claimed it’s becoming invisible - could it be a firewall/network/dns issue?

I tried following an article which suggested I removed a few entries from the preferences.xm file to reset the claim token - but this didn’t help either.

I have now tried wiping the whole preferences.xml file.

This had me go through the ‘setup’ process again, which went fine and could see my claimed server with all my media. For about 15 seconds before it disappeared again, so I’m back where I started.

For anyone curious - in the end I solved this by …

  • backing up the current PlexServer appdata folder
  • creating a fresh install of Plex, and claiming it
  • Copying over the Plugin Support, Metadata & Media sub folders

baring a couple of outstanding issues, this seems to have got it up & running again
