Hello. I have been using my Plex server without issue for years. Over that time I have created a good amount of custom metadata, and have invited a detailed user base to use my server.
Earlier today, I couldn’t log in on any devices, and when I tried to, it gave me a login error. I found in my inbox an email explaining someone had changed the email address on file, and to follow this recovery link if that was unintentional, so I followed the link, and got my account back (and changed my password). I am assuming I was somehow hacked.
The issue is that when I changed my password and logged back in, it was treating me like it was my first time logging in ever. No libraries, no user base. And I did not have the ability to add any libraries.
I tried restoring a backup of the database, which did show my my library lables- but when I clicked on them it said “you do not have access to this library”
Following instructions I got online, I backed up my data and then installed PMS, and then re-installed it. Now I can login, I can add libraries.
But any attempts to restore the database do not work. It’s still making me start over from scratch. Im incredibly gutted by this- it was years of work to build my server as I had it, and now I have to start over. Missing the viewing data is the worst part, where it thinks Ive never watched anything on my server. It doesnt even know what was most recently added.
Is there ANYTHING I can do. Online searches are coming up short. I just want my server back to how I had it this morning.
Im on a Mac. Going into the database folder in application support, and changing the name of the backed up database to the new one makes no difference. When I login, the situations the same.
please help,.
