It would be great if users on a server were able to ‘recommend’ a video/movie/show/episode/album/artist/track and have it show up on a server-wide shared playlist or hub, so that other users on that server could recommend, and see other recommended content.
This shared playlist/hub should automatically filter content which is already watched by the current user.
Workflow/requirements
- user ‘recommends’ a content item (any playable item type)
- all users can navigate to a ‘user recommended’ playlist, or node or hub
- playlist/node/hub should hide/filter out any content which has been watched by the viewing user (but not removed from the recommended list, other users may have different watched status)
- admin should be able to manage recommended list by viewing complete list and removing any content items from the list.
- users should be able ‘un-recommend’ any content they recommended themselves (but not other users recommendation)
- on content preplay/postplay screens there should be an easily visible and accessible ‘recommended’ indicator.
- recommended hub can contain any content type across any library
- recommended hub should respect and hide any restrictions placed on users (ratings/labels as defined for a particular shared user)
- optionally track recommendation counts, so multiple users can recommend the same content, similar to votes. this would allow weighting or sorting content by the number of users that have recommended that content.
- optionally allow users to ‘hide’ content that was recommended (similar to marking watched but ideally creating a separate status. One may want to clear a recommended list but not change watch status) perhaps this could be a negative recommendation increment.
- by default playlist/hub should be shown dynamically/randomly, but still able to be sorted where applicable. The main purpose would be to showcase different content whenever viewed.
