Show available disk space on Plex menu bar

The ability to show available disk space where you local media is coming from. Please see attached image for an idea.

I agree with this suggestion to a certain point, I don’t think there should be any free space indicator in the sidebar (IMO it would be extraordinarily out of place there) but rather it should be in the settings somewhere, perhaps the Dashboard

Thats a good start. Or have an option that says “Enable drive space availablity on menu bar” Lots of ways to tackle showing available drive space within Plex.

In case you are not aware you can get this type of information from within the dash app.

The Dash app doesn’t show free space. It only shows the storage capacity that is occupied by media files, which are added to a plex library. So it will ignore all files which don’t fit into that pattern.

Which means that you not only have to remember the total capacity of your drive, but you will have a really hard time if you have several libraries pointing at a certain drive.
And it will become an impossible task if your library is pointing to several drives at once.

Sure, which is why I said “this type of information”.

Moreover, I’d also argue this type of admin information should not be part of the clients. Why would I want to advertise disk space information to users I shared a library with. It none of their business. This information and any improvement to it should (IMO) be placed in dash, not the plex clients.

Have an option that says “Enable drive space availablity on menu bar” Lots of ways to tackle showing available drive space within Plex. This would fill the slot of not showing it on normal users vs say an admin.

I cant begin to imagine a scenario where keeping tabs on your free disk space is such a time critical thing that you must have an option to show it on the sidebar. Sidebars are for navigation, if a disk space readout is going to be anywhere at all it should be in a submenu anyways.

It’s more for awareness. One could say send an email notification etc… I like the idea of seeing as an admin.
