Is there some way to display the titles that are missing in my library for each collection?
For example, I have the movie 300 (2006) in my library, and it is all by itself in it’s collection. Without going to The Movie Database, I don’t really know what other movie belongs to this collection.
I would turn off the auto-collection feature and just manually set them up. I had it pull collection metadata for a one and done documentary that had the same title and collection info. Didn’t make sense.
Well, I just started using the auto collections after a migrate to a new NAS. I actually like what I see so far, but I agree it’s kind of silly to have a single movie in a collection. I did notice that it’s not like that on TMDB, where there’s actually more than just a single movie, at least for any of the movies I’ve checked.
Some users might prefer to just have it not add a collection to for single movies, but I’d personally prefer to just add the missing titles anyway, and grey out the ones I don’t have or do something to indicate that they’re missing from the library. As it is, even just having a single movie in a collection, it does aid to build/finish my library collections.
I didn’t even realize there was a sequel to 300 (2006), but I’m glad Plex found some way to tell me.
I would make a feature request for this, but I don’t think it would be very popular. Maybe I can find some way to spoof it, and build a script to achieve what I’d like to do, but it’s not that serious right now.
If the movie is already in a collection, it will show the “Collection” hub, but if the movie is not in a collection, you may get the “Related movies” hub.
Correct, Plex only shows items in your library. If you are looking for a way for Plex to list things missing from your library that may be in a collection you already have, no, there is no such feature.
