I love that Watchlist is finally integrated with the our own libraries! It would be nice to see features that are available for playlists, specifically for shuffling, or being able to pick a title at random that I haven’t seen.

I’d love to see the addition of a ‘Random/Surprise Me’ button for Movies/TV shows in Watchlist.
Considering that every movie in the watchlist is already handpicked by the user, and there are just too many fantastic options to choose from, having a dedicated ‘Random’ feature within the watchlist would be a fantastic addition. This would make the user experience even more enjoyable and spontaneous, alleviating the dilemma of choosing from a list of already curated content.
Hey. So I regularly use the shuffle button from my library for picking something at random, but as I’m now adding more to my Watchlist I often want to just pick at random from that, but it’s missing the shuffle button functionality.
I use both the PC and Xbox clients and would love the feature if it’s not too difficult to add, otherwise I’m doing some silly random number generation to arbitrarily pick what to watch next from it. Thanks.
Totally forgot about this thread! I ended up figuring out a solution…sort of. I ended up making a playlist that syncs with my watchlist using Kometa. If you know how that works, include this in your playlist config file:
Watchlist:
sync_mode: sync
libraries:
- Movies
plex_watchlist: title.asc
sync_to_users: your-user-here
In this instance, it uses the admin user’s watchlist, and be sure to add what user/s you want to have the playlist on
It would be great if we could randomize our watchlist the same way you allow libraries to be randomized through sort by. Please and thank you, I love your app
Would you mind sharing what you’re trying to achieve with this (getting to your use case)?
My watchlist has hundreds of movies. Sometimes I don’t have anything specific in mind and just want Plex to pick something at random from my watchlist. Since Plex already supports randomizing library content, it would make sense to have the same option for watchlists. It would help reduce decision fatigue and encourage people to actually watch the movies they’ve saved, think of it like shuffle playing your music.
Would love this feature. Sometimes it would be nice to just have it do the choosing for me.
For me it would alleviate the abundance of choice that I often feel when looking at my watchlist
