When loading an Artist page, there’s always a secondary page load of the similar and sonically similar section at the bottom. Currently, all (or nearly all) artists that are part of a collection fail to load that section with a JS console error of “timeout of 30000ms exceeded.” Artists that aren’t in a collection load the similarity section in less than one second.
I’m running a 4th gen Intel processor, so it’s likely that many people aren’t quite hitting the timeout limit, especially since I have a large music library. There’s still an unreasonably large CPU spike trying to load these artist pages. I’ve tried from other accounts and networks. It doesn’t seem to matter. I believe the same artists fail to load the similar data in Plexamp.
It took me a while to figure out the pattern. I’ve noticed that section failing to load on artists previously, but I think it was just during high server load. In the current beta version it seems to be constant. Perhaps my database just finally approached that 30s timeout, but if something changed in that section of the code I’d appreciate a small investigation into this.

Ok, the box was unchecked but I think I hadn’t restarted the server since it was enabled. I’ll try to remember to restart next time. I’d been trying to find anything connected to this problem in the logs but it seemed like there was only a client-side and server-side timeout message with a CPU spike.

Load time does seem slightly better on this version, but I’m still hitting the 30 second mark. It’s probably just random variance in system/disk performance. Most artists still fail to load similar if in a collection. I am getting a new server machine today, so I’m guessing I won’t have this issue as often. Still, it seems like there’s a bottleneck/loop somewhere. Thanks, y’all. Wish the staff a happy holidays!
I got that upgraded server running. Better hardware but the same library. Server version 1.41.3.9314, released today.
The load times overall are tremendously better from the upgraded hardware, but I still hit 30 seconds timeout loading the similar section for certain artists with collections. Most load in the 10-20 second range; a few do load right away. Here’s a set of logs after I was unable to load the similar artists for Dance Gavin Dance.
