Id like to have the option to add smart filter under a library i.e. the ability to have viral sub categories for media that update based on metadata.
Movies (Library View all)
| New (Any Movie added in the last 6 months)
| Classics (Matches Movies Before a published Year)
| 80 Comedy (Matches Genera Comedy Between years 1980-1989)
You can achieve that with smart collections, by storing your filter criteria as a collection.
Is there a way to make that show up under the Library on the left side. I find that the smart collection is hard find / distinguish from the other titles.
Collections have a separate tab at the top.
As Otto pointed out, Plex is covering this (e.g. using the collections tab or by publishing a collection to the home screen / library recommended page).
As for your request to have those collections showing in the main menu / sidebar… there’s already 2 feature suggestions addressing this (we were considering merging them as they’re rather close but haven’t gotten to follow-up on that).
