Server Version#: 1.24.3.5033
Player Version#: Plex for Mac 1.33.0.2444-a220eae4
Sort by date is not sorting correctly. Sort by Bitrate ascending. Observe that higher bitrates appear alongside lower bitrate videos. In my example, the first 12 videos in ascending order are:
0.2 Mbps
0.6 Mbps 26.8 Mbps 2.6 Mbps 17.2 Mbps 15.3 Mbps
0.9Mbps
0.9 Mbps
1 Mbps
1 Mbps 17.5 Mbps
1 Mbps
I’ve observed this issue on Plex for Mac, Plex for iOS, and Plex for Web.
Yes that’s right. I just realized that the movies that are mis-sorted are movies where I upgraded the video quality. So for example I had a 0.4 mbps version then upgraded to 17mbps. So it seems like while Plex is aware of the new bitrate, it’s sorting by the previous bitrate. In each case the previous low bitrate file was replaced by the new higher bitrate one.
Oh gosh I just realized what was happening. I moved my Plex server from Windows to Linux a while back and the movies being sorted incorrectly both had an upgrade and were linking to the old Windows path “D:/{whatever}”. Once I filtered to movies w duplicates and removed the old links it looks like I’m good.
