Spinning buffer of death on android tv app (Sony)

Server Version#: 1.40.1.8227
Player Version#: 10.12.1.370

The issue has started recently. When I stop a movie and try to play it again(direct play), movie won’t play and instead I get spinning buffer of death.
But if I change the quality, even to maximum, it will resume.
I can play it from the beginning without any problem but in that case, if I use seekbar I get the same problem.
No problem resuming from web browser on host either.
My smartphone doesn’t have this problem. It resumes normally. It happens only on the tv.

Host specs: ryzen 3600, 32gb ram
TV connected on 5Ghz Band

What I have already tried:

  • I have cleared storage data from the app on tv, uninstalled app then reinstalled it.

  • Downgraded app version by downloading the older apk from apkmirror.

  • Uninstalled the 64bit plex media server from host and installed the 32bit.(installed 64bit again)

  • Renamed “cache” folder in local appdata

  • Run “PlexDBRepair” (no issues found)

I have, also, noticed that network usage on host is 95Mbps, so host is transmitting normally data to the client.
I can’t understand why client can’t handle resuming the file from where it stopped but can handle flawlessly playing the file from the beginning.

Anyone?

Same issue on 10.13.0 version

@AlexGanja possible fix for this is in the current beta v10.16.0.723 which will be in next week’s public release. Would you mind confirming the fix for any files you may have had issues with?

I have confirmed with another user on the forum that it solves their issue but there is always the possibility that it is unrelated.

I don’t have any of the files that had the issues anymore. I will test with other big size files as soon as I get some and report back if there are still issues.

@morganj I got some files that I assume would had the issue but fortunately there was no spinning on resume.
