After watching a series with the wife, she commented that things seem to load slower than on the new server. I chocked it up to how the disks are done up in the new server (xfs UNRAID rather than no raid at all). This is in direct play. If my plex server has to transcode, it is faster because the transcode folder is on my cache drive.
I was thinking, why not utilize a cache for files that are likely to be played next, likely the videos categorized as “on deck”. Also videos that were stopped part way through with intent to resume later. Plus videos in a collection or playlist, similar to TV show viewing.
