Hello, I am having an issue I can not find a solution to no matter how much I search. Sorry in advanced this will be a bit of a longer post. I just am trying to include as much information as possible.
A little history I had an old pc running ubuntu and didn’t have any streaming problems it was just old and under powered and could not handle but a couple streams and for best performance I had to keep videos at or below 720. So I was able to upgrade to the new Mac Mini M4. I did a new server install with a new name and rebuilt the server.
I almost immediately started having streaming issues it would stop playing go to a black screen with the loading icon (what it looks like when you first click on something to watch) and then after a few seconds - a minute it would continue playing to then randomly do it agin. Some videos it will happen 100 times some it will only happen 6 times but it will always do it. I can even play the same video over again and it will do it different amount of times. Sometimes I will get the error saying the server wasn’t powerful enough to stream even tho the resources was not under heavy or even any load and the video is only 480 or 720. So I figured the old router I was using might have been going out or had a compatibly problem with the Mac having a 1gig port since the old pc did not have this. Fast forward a month I moved got 1 gig up and down spectrum internet with a new router with gig ports and I still have this issue. It does not matter if I’m streaming locally or remote it does not matter if I use Apple TVs, Rokus, Androids, Fire Sticks, or a web browser. It doesn’t make a difference if it’s direct or transcoding. It does not matter if it’s me streaming or my fam streaming on their own accounts all having the same issues.
The console logs are showing what looks to be a network issue. I will attach picture with the error and warnings I am seeing. It will pop up the warnings a few times then the stream will refresh as the error pops up then it continue playing. These have been the same errors even on the old router and internet. I have tried multiple network changes just to see if it would help to no avail. I changed the ethernet cable just to see and it did not help. So the most recent changes I made that helped the most is, I assigned the Mac a static ip and turned off ip6 in the plex settings and it is not dropping to that loading screen as frequently but still occurring.
I am not sure if this is a Plex or a Mac issue. But does not seem to be a issue anyone else is having. I really only use this Mac for a plex server but I have watched YouTube and done web browsing looking for solutions to this and haven’t seen an issue with the internet in that regard.
Any help would be appreciated! I have been going insane trying to figure this out. lol
