Yea it sounds logical but I can access my plex server from anywhere in my house, ps3, mac, android, ipod so I don't think that is the problem.
My opinion is that it is something with your mac. Personally at this point if it was my mac I would of backed up everything and reinstalled the os and called it a day.
Try disabling GDM and hard coding your PMS IP/port, see the advanced settings page on the wiki

So i tried it quickly on my macbook and it works perfectly... So yes there is something wrong with the Mac. I am going to take wahlman's advice and reinstall it and call it a night before getting to frustrated ;)
Anyway thanks for all the help! Hope I can enjoy the product soon :)
