Hello,
I have recently begun experimenting with the new HDR feature in the Plex players, and one thing that I’ve come across while doing this is how sparse the information in the “Play Version…” dialogue box is. Currently it only displays the bitrate and resolution – have two files with the same and you have no idea which one is which.
I would suggest in addition to bitrate and resolution you add the “(HEVC Main 10 HDR)” or “(H.264 SDR)” part, and possibly audio too; “English (TRUEHD 7.1)” or “English (EAC3 5.1)”.
Maybe even the actual file name to make it easier to discern between theatrical and director versions, as the bitrate, video res and audio may still be the same?
Side note: In Plex for iOS the fact a video is HDR seem to be missing. Actually, there’s no information at all about the video codec as far as I can see.
