Support for audiobooks

+1 Any form of resume will do the basic job :!!

I add my vote to this feature!!!

I’m pretty sure that I +1’ed this in 2014, I’m really disappointed that a trivial bit of code hasn’t been put together for audio resume yet.
I tend to be happy with basic functionality over frills.
I’ll happily manually edit my audiobooks for covers and Metadata.
Please provide an update

I hope everyone who is adding a new +1 post is also clicking the like of the first post. As @BrodericKlemetson said

Writing another post does not show plex that you want this feature, please go back and like the original post to make it more prominent. This feature is already on Plex’s feature request list 3 times, please go to those threads and like the original post to make it gain even more priority. Here are the two threads with the most priority likes so far, voting on these will be the most beneficial:

If you haven’t already done so please follow those links and like the first post as they are already the most popular. Get enough likes to get the admins attention and maybe this feature request will go somewhere.

Liked it !

I would love it for podcasts

+1 I listen to tons of audio books, having the ability to resume on any device would be fantastic.

I’ve been a PlexPass supporter since the very beginning, requesting this feature, and I don’t understand why it has yet not been implemented.

Because Plex does not seem to want to support audiobooks. Even the quite simple addition of resume/FF/RW has not been added and that would be the first step toward audio books.

I cannot figure any reason for the holdup of that basic functionality other than Plex just having a real dislike of audiobooks and their ilk. Music is OK. Movies are OK. TV is OK. But God forbid that there should be audiobook support!!! It is just unthinkable., at least by Plex.

+1

Add this to the ā€œLibrary Optionsā€ vote

I love Plex, but this functionality is basic for media players in the digital age. Why is not included?

+1 and liked original post.

+1 pretty please.

Seems like this was added in 1.0.2:

Save track offsets in music libraries that have opted in. (#3370)

OMG. They finally did it!
Thank you Plex team!!
^:)^ :x

Adding my personal audiobook collection into my Plex library to bench test track memory. Stand by…

Is this client-side? I don’t see an ability to designate this when creating my ā€œAudiobookā€ music folder…

There’s a new option ā€œStore track progressā€ under the advanced tab when creating / editing a music library

GROAN! My Plex server is on a Mac, and the highest version it sees as available is 1.0.0.2261. Am I doing something wrong - can I download 1.0.2 on my Mac?

OMG OMG OMG!!! It works! It really, really works! It remembers my position, across time and across devices. This is the holy grail for me - I’m literally porting my entire audiobook collection as I write.

Please, try this yourself and double-check me. You’ll need to make sure your Plex Server is 1.0.2 or higher (I had to manually download, as I was stuck on 1.0.0.2261 for some reason), but if this works for you then I consider this issue essentially closed.

SAN DIMAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RULES!

Not working for me across different devices - may be I am doing something wrong.
I created a new basic ā€œMusicā€ library with ā€œstore track progressā€ checked and Agent=ā€œPersonal Media Artistsā€.
It seems to remember between closing browser and re-opening, but not much more than that.
I guess Plex will provide more info soon on this.
I would be VERY useful to have a part read audiobook in the ā€œOn Deckā€ section (just like any part watched movie etc.) so you do not have to go and find it again within the library.

UPDATE: OK I may have been too hasty - I will do more checking. Certainly seems to at least part work.

Client support might be incomplete still. Please report the clients you are using if it still fails.
