I’m a deaf user who has used Plex for several years now. Long enough that the primary reason for using Plex in the first place was the lack of support for closed captioning for various online players/streaming services. Hulu and Netflix had yet to caption their content. I’ve finally ran into a serious flaw with Plex, the lack of support for EIA 608 caption files. VLC doesn’t seem capable of displaying them either, but QuickTime can and Plex should.
I hope someone investigates this soon and closes this accessibility loophole.
Been using Plex DVR to record TV from my HDHR for awhile and noticed that CC (closed captions) are actually being saved, just not displayed. Would love to have the closed captioning displayed like subtitles.
