Plex's online media settings are for user not server

I’m very upset.

Plex introducing video-on-demand with adverts is not for me, but that’s OK as I can turn it off for my server, right?

…wrong!

I have just discovered that switching it off only effects my account and not my server.

This means that my shared users can still access that online content.

For me, this includes my young nieces for whom I have gone to great lengths to control content (to be age appropriate) …and I have just found out that they have been able to access horror films through Plex’s new advert/free online content.

If this was explained, it wasn’t clear and everyone needs to be aware of it.

Perhaps, the default setting should have been “disabled” for everyone with a clear link to “enabling it” in the launch email.

Correct, with password protection for age sensitive Media. That’s not mentioning the supplied ear muffs for so loud ads.

It is a terrible decision. Even worse, as if that was possible, than how they shoved Tidal at everyone. I don’t know whose decision this was, but they should be fired.
