I just paid for a lifetime subscription, because I want to sync to mobile devices. I have a horrible feeling I’ve made a real blunder. I can’t see how to sync movies without transcode. Surely this is possible? If not, I guess I will need to beg for a refund.
Unfortunately there is no option to sync movies without transcode. I wish this feature too.
The UI shouldn’t be showing a conversion if what you’re trying to sync is indeed DirectPlay ready for that device.
If you’ve found an exception where this is not true, please get the media info (or XML) for what you’re trying to sync and tell me what you’re trying to sync to.
I’ll check here and see what’s happening.
Here is an example - it streams without issue, I can download using iTunes with no issue & playback, but Plex sync insists on converting.
If I can’t overcome this, it is pretty much useless.

You can mess with your sync xml profiles and force it to not convert however ymmv with it actually playing on the device as there is no transcoding available on the cloud sync server and you may need to back up modified xml files between updates.

Is there a description of how to do this anywhere?
It’s unsupported but here is a guide that someone wrote to change it for chromecast
basically just put whatever settings you want for the device that you want to sync to or the cloud sync profile
