I don’t know if this is intended behavior or if it is a bug, but I have noticed that previously played tracks will dissappear from an earlier position in the history log if they are played subsequent times.
I got curious when I heard a couple of tracks that I was sure I had heard fairly recently, and I tried to go to my history to verify how long it had been, and only the most recent incident showed.
So, to verify my suspicion I set the same track to play several times in succession, and sure enough, the “back to” section shows the track having played multiple times, but the history only shows it once.
I’m including two screen shots that show the “back to” section and the history, taken moments apart. I’m also including a log.
The length of the history is limited.
It is only there to help you find quickly a track you want to play again.
Because of that, it doesn’t make sense to allow duplicates in this list.
This is not at all true. The length of the history is virtually limitless. I can scroll and scroll and scroll and keep on scrolling and it will continue to show tracks that played weeks, months and presumably years ago.
Yet, if I listen to a track multiple times within a certain (undetermined) length of time, the history will only show me the most recent instance.
@OttoKerner So from what you are saying, my first suspicion must be true, that what I’ve described is actually the intended behavior for the history feature. Which means that my history, over the long term, becomes nothing more than a list of all the tracks I have ever listened to, but only showing the most recent instance for each track.
Kind of makes the whole history feature far less interesting IMO as well as making it pointless to have it go back ad infinitum - i.e. nobody wants to scroll back for weeks/months/years to find a “recently played” track
