I tried appending all the X-Plex- params as url params instead of including them in the headers and it worked!
I’m not sure how to delete this post. Sorry.
No worries, glad you figured it out, I was just about to reply
Can you provide me with some details on other formats that the transcoder supports? I have been using the sample js file (http://plexapp.tv/bookmarklet/main.js), but I am interested what else it can do besides m3u8 and how you achieve that.
If there is some documentation for that kind of thing, you can just point me to it. I couldn't find much though.
There isn’t documentation for it. The best bet is actually to use a DLNA client and see how it hits the generic transcoder on the server.
Sounds good. Thanks elan.
I almost wish the OP had left his original post before he solved his issue. im not sure im putting this in the right place but the older thread on this topic looks well old an dead.
I have used the javascript as an example, but i am always getting 403s.
I have a few questions:
A: i’m totally lost on the retention rules of the session and access tokens… do they expire? when?
B: the session token is obtained from the /video/:/transcode/start.m3u8 point when one is not provided?
C: where can i obtain the current pub/priv key set? is there any place i can retrieve this from PMS itself or online so i can maintain my software?
My Application:
I am working on a personal iPad side project (not intended for resale) that acts as an interface to various software on my server system (dropbox, jdownloader, plex, etc) right now im working on the Plex module and i would really like transcoding to work smoothly.
You should compute a new signature for every new session (obviously, as the signature depends on the URL).
The session identifier should be per-device, and ensures that only one session per client is active.
I recommend providing a session=XXX parameter with a per-device token. That is best practice.
The ones in the Christmas post are still valid as demo keys.
Hey ericmatthys, did you figure this out? Could you post your finds here? I'm really interested on transcoding to FLV/MP4...
thanks!
