Currently on my Plex Server, I’m having to keep two different versions of a movie, in different colo spaces:
HDR color space: ITU-R BT.2020 Range for 4K Ultra High Definition
SDR color Space: ITU-R BT.709 Range for 1080p for non 4K players, which otherwise wouldn’t playback the luminance an color correctly.
If Plex uses FFMpeg for transcoding to different stream sizes, would it be possible for it also convert the color space at the same time from
HDR color space: ITU-R BT.2020 4K to
SDR color Space: ITU-R BT.709 1080p
Then I only would need the 4K file.
I understand that most processors may not be fast enough on some machines to accomplish, maybe most, but was hoping that this might be possible in some way on some faster machines!
Just a thought!
