I am pretty new to Plex (started with plex 8) and I love the interface and overall functionality. So much so, I ditched my cable tv. But the more and more I use Plex, the more and more I want additional plugins. So I have a crazy idea to try and create my own. However, I am new to developing and I need some help. I would like to start by doing an NBA Leaguepass plugin but I am stuck. I’ve looked over some existing plugins to get me started, but the more I dive into them, the more lost I get. To my virgin developer eyes, all the plugins look so different in the way they were set up. But I’m sure it’s just me being intimidated by trying to create one. Any help getting me started would be much appreciated. I have a login and password to NBA Leaguepass that I can share to anyone willing to help.
Hey Chief!
I know how you feel. I started the same way, and ended up writing several plugins for plex.
There are differences in the complexity of each plugin. As a beginner, I found MTV Music Videos helpful in understanding the basics.
Feel free to ask any questions. There are many helpful people in the forums.
I did think about writing a LeaguePass plugin (when they had a free trial) but it was busy and the trial ended in 3-4 days...

Thanks, Dbl-A. I’ll take a look at MTV, roll up my sleeves and start a pot of coffee.
For another very simple one check out the recent IMDb Trailers I wrote. Couldn’t be simpler in fact. Two top level menu items leading directly to video items, content from json and uses direct video URLs. Most are not this simple, involve HTML parsing or writing a site config, but that is very illustrative of what’s required when writing a plugin.
