Turn off Scrobbling to last.fm for a specific audio library

Server Version#: 4.105.2

I am using Plex for an audiobook library. I have everything working great and it is honestly my ideal solution, since it is all in one package for all my media.

However, a big problem I am having is that Plex is automatically scrobbling all audio libraries instead of just my music ones. I know there are third party solutions, but I don’t want to have to configure that for all of my devices. I just want to tell plex to ignore scrobbling from this library.

I hope you don’t mind me piggybacking. I wanted to ask the same question right now.

Is it possible to exclude a music library from scrobbling to last.fm?

My problem is, I have several music libraries (e.g. music / audiobooks / drumless tracks …) and I want to scrobble only one of them, the music library, to last.fm.

My clients include sonos / tvOS / plexamp on iOS & macOS and occasionally on Windows.

Currently if I listen to something else than music, which I don’t want to send to last.fm, I have to switch clients (airsonic advanced because of sonos support) or users.

Ideally I want to use plex/plexamp for all my audio needs. On most devices I can switch to a managed user but I don’t think plex on sonos supports them.

Furthermore I’m kind of lazy and don’t like (or remember to) switching accounts all the time

Does someone know if I can disable scrobbling for certain libraries? I can’t find anything in the GUI. Maybe there’s a config file I can edit or is there another approach to this problem which I’m not aware of?

I appreciate you adding your situation to the thread. Unfortunately, I’m assuming from the silence that we might be S.O.L.

Okay, I think I figured out a work around. It’s not even a good one, but it works for my situation. I have an admin account and a personal account for plex. I’ve been using my admin account for music and my personal for everything else, because I’ve been too lazy to move over my playlists from admin to personal.

I’ve decided to keep using my admin account for music, and I’m using my personal account (that’s not linked to last.fm) for audiobooks. If you don’t already have another account, it could be really annoying to create one, but it’s honestly worth it for keeping admin activities separate, and for keeping audiobooks out of your perfectly accurate last.fm. You can even just have an account for audiobooks so you don’t need to go overboard like I did.

I guess so, too. It’s rather a niche problem which affects not many users.

That’s what I’m currently doing, too. Made a managed user in my home solely for the purpose of listening to the non-music libraries.

Unfortunately I haven’t found a way to switch accounts on Plex for Sonos (which is the client used most at home).

And of course I’d still prefer to do away with the need for account switching.
