This might be a stupid question, do you think in the future we could get a TV guide like Google Channels? I use that currently to watch TV on Nvidia Shield. It would be awesome to have an interface like that for Plex DVR.
I agree, first thing I wanted to do was tune into a specific channel… Heck most of the time I don’t know the name of shows, etc… Especially with news channels… Need to be able to just tune in a specific channel and go…
Integrating with Android TV’s Live Channels would be even better.
Yes please. Live TV really needs a proper EPG with a timeline and channel listing as below:
It doesn’t need a window showing what’s currently playing, although that would be nice
I’m old to Plex, but very new to the DVR. And without a “real” EPG, the DVR is close to useless. It’s certainly not something I’m going to recommend to any of my friends (even those with Plex).
This would be an awesome addition!
Its really a shame since obviously the Plex team put a lot of effort into the current DVR guide setup but I to find it basically unusable. I don’t know anyone who browses live television like that. We all have our 5-6 channels we watch and ignore the other 254 Having to cull through all these thumbnails to get to these 5-6 channels is quite cumbersome.
I finally pulled the trigger on plex pass, and it’s because of plex’s DVR support. I’ve been using MythTV for DVR for ages, and it’s such an awful, klunky, ugly mess, I’m eager to jump ship. Now having tried Plex DVR though, I think there are two things holding me back:
- Guide interface (as described in this post)
- Live TV transcoding.
I’m super encouraged with what Plex has accomplished thus far, and I’m sure the DVR offering will mature over time.
Another vote for this feature.
closing this one since the other one has more votes
