Hi Plex people,
Recently I’ve attempted to migrate my Lubuntu 18.04 Plex Server out of a virtual machine running on an Ubuntu 19.04 host. Since I have a bunch of sacrificial SSDs available I’d like to move my Plex library metadata with millions of tiny files away from the OS and use the override function detailed by ChuckPA in the main guides here Moving-PMS-Library. This guide runs into some issues now that /var/lib/plexmediaserver isn’t the default directory as it has been moved to /var/snap/plexmediaserver in the latest Ubuntu update similar to the discussion here help-moving-library-metadata.
My systemd based home server setup uses the following.
-
Primary SSD for Ubuntu 19.04 / and /home
-
Spare SSDs, let’s call it /mnt/PLEXdb
-
ZFS arrays for storage. /mnt/Z1HULK and /mnt/Z1THOR
I think if ChuckPA’s guide could be updated I could follow it or if anyone has some substitute commands that would work. I don’t mind starting with fresh metadata so it’s not critical to rescue the VM server data.
Also I have a small noob question to ask too. In ChuckPA’s guide it mentions changing the user and group, I thought that was meant to be plex:plex? If mine was optimus-prime@Cybertron at log in for example, what should I use?
Any help is appreciated
