But I am getting buffering after every 3-4sec. Its the same, regardless of the quality, as soon as transcoding starts, it stops working. Direct play works fine.
Server Version#: v1.21.3.4021-5a0a3e4b2 installed on Win10 Pro x64
Player Version#: v1.27.2.1599-7689068b (but the same is for web player as well)
Intel Pentium G5420 with UHD610
16GB of DDR4
I am also using ramdisk as transcode folder instead of SSD.
Am I doing something wrong here?
If you need any logs for more details I will gladly provide it.
UPDATE
The problem is tone mapping, without it 4K transcoding works fine, hopefully it will not be CPU heavy in the future on Win like its not on Linux.
@Alucard1 No, no, I want it to be transcoded so that I can watch it on a phone or something, thats fine, but it just doesnt work smoothly.
@TeknoJunky But if I turn that off, colors will be messed up, and I am fine with CPU usage, but it stutters badly
BUT it actually works!!! Holy crap! Thanks!
Now the question is, should it work with tone mapping if I had better CPU, like an i5 or something? It would be almost the same iGPU, but thats not the problem here if I understood correctly.
You don’t want to transcode 4K, instead create an optimized version of your 4K movie that can be transcoded down easier if need be. That is what I do. Plex will pick the optimized version automatically for remote streaming or non 4K TV’s.
To optimize, just click the dots on the movie and select the optimize option. I generally use the Optimize for TV option.
I know, but most of the things are played locally and all of my devices are capable of direct 4K, I was just wondering why wasnt it working, and looks like tone mapping was the issue, at least for my CPU. Without it small G5420 handles 5 streams at the same time 4K to 1080p at ~75% CPU usage.
