Unable to upgrade plexmediaserver on Ubuntu 20.04

Server Version#:1.27.0.5897-3940636f2

For some time now I have not been able to install/configure plexmediaserver updates on my linux server. I get the following error during post-install configuration processing:

I end up reverting back to an older version 1.25.6 something.
This is on an old Intel NUC with 16G ram and Intel(R) Core™ i3-6100U CPU @ 2.30GHz

This error

has been seen before.

Other places it’s been seen:

  1. When a key remapper has been installed
Plex fails to install on linux when a key remapper is installed (like Kinto)

  2. when ckb-next has been installed
Plex Media Server install fails on Ubuntu 20.04 due to ckb-next

This is a DPKG problem with that package and not with Plex.
Reverting PMS version for success is random.

This is centered around dpkg errors with 3rd party keyboard management packages.
Does this also apply to you?

Thank you for the quick response!

I do not see ckb-next, kinto, or xmodmap in my list of installed packages. Are there other packages I should look for?

Thanks!
Marc

Do you have any packages installed which manage / interact with the keyboard?

I’ve also seen this on some of the Pi machines which have an IR remote.

Upgrading after stopping the lircd service worked. Many thanks ChuckPa!
