unexpected error loading dashboard
Hi,
I have been getting unexpected error loading dashboard for the last 6 months or so. Can not seem to find what is causing it either. Also now when I try to use plex on other devices it seem to come up with unexpected error all the time. Don’t what who did what but before this Plex was perfect, now just crap. Has anyone found a solution?
Thank you
Jason
Try this that I posted in another thread.
It’s possible there is some corrupt data preventing your dashboard from working. Edit your libraries and turn off the option to show on the dashboard. Then turn them on 1 by 1. If you get the error, then it’s something in that library. Go to that library and sort by date added. See if there is an item with no date. Remove that from your library and see if your dashboard will load.
If a library would be corrupt, who does the error go away if I click reload page? It only comes up with that error only the first time I get to the Plex site. At least in my case.
Pinpointing that error on the user site is very difficult because anytime I disable A (any) library for the dashboard, it loads anyway. As I said before, a reload does the trick too. It loads again too if I re-enable that library for the dashboard.
If reloading the page fixes the problem, then it’s probably not a corruption in the database. It could be a cache issue with your browser. Have you tried clearing the browser cache?
Hello,
My movie viewing experience has been smooth-sailing up until I installed version Plex-Media-Server-1.3.3.3148-b38628e (1).
Now I have to reboot my computer and sign-in to Plex Media because my served can’t be reached, “server unavailable. I have attempted to uninstall /re-install “plex” several times to no avail. I even upgraded to 'Chromecast Ultra” thinking this would solve my problem.
What else can be done?
I’ve tried everything suggested above (everything!) and the “unexpected error loading dashboard” keeps coming back after working once or twice. No joy at all!
this always works for me:
Click optimize Database.

PM me your database and let me try to recreate the issue.
I have the same issue here. The error reappears after some time. Rebooting the plex server (running on Windows Server 2012) solves the issue temporarily. Optimizing the db has no effect. Also dumping an reimporting the db doesn’t help.
Can you restart PMS, wait 3 minutes, turn on PlexWeb to get that error, then grab the logs from the settings \ server \ help and upload that zip file.
Most reported problems on Windows Server 2012 for this are to do with use of RDP and the policy of Per Session Temp Directory which must have changed recently - possibly a security update.
The logs will confirm if it is this
