How do you turn it off and only show the old login? I don’t want the optional convenience

Same, I can’t even log in at this point, it just says, Thank you for logging in successfully, then say it couldn’t complete the request and loops back to the login, from multiple machines…, I’ll never use this feature, I don’t have a facebook account and would never log in using Google, why would I bother?, why would anyone when they can just log in? the old way of logging in that actually worked was better, now, can someone please fix it so I can log in…

Why in hell does the login from MY computer for MY Plex server that is on MY local network in MY house needs to go get some sort of approval on YOUR servers?

What if I don’t have internet connexion at the time? I can’t login?

I hate it, didn’t ask for it, don’t want it, bring back my login page !

Edit------
Just confirmed it, when I login, it bounces to the page: https://app.plex.tv/auth/#!?clientID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

If I disconnect the internet link from my house, I am no longer able to connect to my own freaking server!
This is UNACCEPTABLE!!!
If I lose internet, (and it happens, trust me), I can not watch movies, FIX IT!!!

Edit again-------

Are you serious? Even if I go directly to the machine which hosts the server I can not login!!! This is THEFT, plain and simple!
You have no right to hold my data, hold my picctures, hold MY STUFF until Plex is connected to YOUR servers!!!

What have you been smoking??? This is it for me, you really crossed a line.

While I appreciate the attempt at convenience here, you made it harder for any of us that do not want to log in using Facebook or Google. Now, I have to click an extra time to use e-mail and my password manager does not work. Your UI should show the old username and password box (that will still work with password managers) then have an “OR” below it with links to login via Google or Facebook. This would have provided a convenience to new folks without making it harder for the rest of us.

Do you guys use your own software? Some of your design decisions lately suggest to me that you don’t.

What happens when you try to login? If you could explain the problem in more detail, it would be super helpful for us.

Do you have Plex behind a proxy of any kind?

Nothing has changed there. The previous login page communicated with plex.tv to sign in for the first time. Just like before, if you are already signed in, you do not need Internet access.

@shangreer Which password manager are you using? Thanks

Users who sign up with Google or Facebook do not have a Plex password, and can only sign in with the new login form. More than 50% of new users are choosing to use Google or Facebook to sign up instead of creating a password. For this reason, we’ve made sure that all Plex login forms support these new accounts.

Sounds like fly-by-night people you want to invite, not devoted people. I must be looking at it wrong. Just doesn’t seem like a personable approach to make a community.
But maybe that exactly what Plex wants in the interim.

Would a new user have the ability to create a Plex password at a later date?

It seems to be an incompatibility with Edge, which did work before, no proxy.

Basically I try to sign-in, it accepts the password, acts like it is signing in, then loops back to the login with my email address showing with the only option to click “Sign in” again, no password textbox or anything, so it’s accepted the password as the right one.

Maybe do more testing with Edge.

I am still not happy with this change, and your argument about Facebook and Google accounts wouldn’t be an argument if you hadn’t added the feature in the first place, here’s a middle ground for you, add an option to the server interface, a “checkbox” if you will, that disables the Facebook and Google login options if checked, you can default it on for new installations if you like, but give people the option to not have that noise on their server.

M$ Edge still exist!?? Wow, good to know.

@Gregflix

Your new forums suck and are are full of ad click links (try browsing with noscript and a few other tools to see just what is collected and by who). Sorry that you were so incompetent as to be unable to run a simple sensible forum without getting hacked.

I didn’t want your pants Cloud sign in rubbish as I could access my server perfectly well any time I wanted thank you. Your excuse about ‘licencing’ needing it is complete rubbish. I have plenty of other apps that don’t need a cloud sign in.

Your hack just proves that I am happier and better off maintaining my own security rather than relying on you lot.

And I sure as hell don’t want Gobble and Feckbook spewing on my login pages. I can see the tracking code is already in there, whether I sign in using them or not. I don’t want to sit and look at their bloody logins. I don’t use Feckbook and avoid Gobble as much as possible.

This is disgusting, a complete invasion of privacy, and the last straw.

Your Vulture Capital funders are trying to screw me and other users. Well they can go screw themselves.

Plex. A perfect example of how to turn a good idea into a corporate cash cow. I bitterly regret ever giving you a lifetime membership now. If I was paying monthly I could just stop. But lifetime gets no refunds, no matter how shoddy the service becomes. And yours has plumbed new depths.

Off to use Emby. I suggest other dissatisfied users vote with their feet and dump this steaming pile of bloated spyware.

One seriously angry ex user.

Can’t get into existing account now.

OK, you guys really screwed up on this. Some time ago you switched from email login to user name. I have an existing user name that had this email address linked to it. Launching the app on my phone shows this address associated with my login ID. While on that screen in the app, I accidentally hit the sign out and now cannot get back into my media! I try to get ahold of your support and can only do so in the Forum, which REQUIRES a valid login! In order to sign in I am now forced to use email address again and YOU DIDN’T HAVE THE EMAIL ADDRESS IN YOUR SYSTEM. I had to sign up (again) with this email account just to be able to post to the forums to get help since you have no other support mechanism. I am now in a “new user” state with this account and have no way to access my media or the existing “user ID” which is apparently no longer tied to this email account.

In short, I am a paying customer with no access to support and no way to access the services I am paying for. This sounds an awful lot like a class action lawsuit…

So, I have 2 requests:
Add another method of support!
Re-Link my account or provide a mechanism for existing “user name” login. Check your records for ID Rwarlock.
I would be glad to link my gmail account, but cannot sign into my existing account at all.

… and your crappy interface doesn’t even show where I can change the “user name”, so I have to post using the email account as my name for all to see.
Looks like I will need to update my email address to a new one and close this one down once my account is fixed… or deleted (a serious consideration at this point!!!)

I had to go back out of the forums and to the main Plex site to update my account user name.

Today’s Plex Media Server 1.9.2 release has fixes to the iframe issue.

We are investigating the sign-in loop that some users are experiencing. In the meantime, users hitting a sign-in loop should try using the hosted web app at https://app.plex.tv/desktop

@“lo.chey” - We’ve tested in Edge and haven’t been able to repro your issue, but we’re still digging. Thanks for reporting.

@AngryCustomer - You can type a username into the Email Address field to sign in with your old account. Does that help? (We are updating the web UI to reflect that.)

Well done Plex!

Not only did you

  • completely ignore our feature requests
  • leave bugs unfixed for months
  • provide litterally absolutly no customer service
  • introduce instead new and senseless, unneccessary features

but also

  • turn the privacy policy into a disaster
  • introdoce a login-machanism no one wanted that locks out lots of users
  • destroy the last little piece of trust we - YOUR SUPPORTERS - had in you
  • and still, despite a mess of epic proportions, remain mostly silent

I once read a phrase in an employment certificate that would describe you well:
Not only did he hit rock bottom, he also started digging.

Sign in loop here too, signed successfully at first with email address, signed out to use my user name now nothing works…genius.

@Gregflix , I was able to access my account using the login ID in the email address field. It still shows the once delete, now new account, email address correctly in my account information, but logging in with that address does not access the same account.
Using the login ID (correct account), I link my gmail account, and since the email account listed is this one (now a new account), when I log in using that google account, it takes me to the “new” account, not the correct, active one.

@Gregflix , This is @AnnoyedCustomer back into correct account.
The “break” had to do with a typo in the email address associated with this login ID.
The main fix here is definitely to update the UI to state that you can log in using EITHER the email or login ID.

We still need a better way of submitting support tickets, especially for account issues because when you can’t log in you can’t get support!!!
