Unknown Audio

In fiddling with my media, I’ve apparently acquired/accumulated a lot of movies that have “Unknown” for the Audio Language now. I dunno whether I removed the tag, or it wasn’t there to begin with, or maybe running things through various softwares has lost it. However, I’d like to go through my library and correct the language tags for the audio so that when you filter by Audio Language, they come up correctly. Step one however, is identifying which movies they are so I can start changing the tags with tool nix, unfortunately, plex doesn’t have a “None” or an “Unknown” filter to help me out with this, does anyone know a quick way to identify all movies with an unknown or und flag?

Googling was interesting, but it did come up with this:

Now, on the surface that sounds like exactly what you’re looking for.
I did NOT read the fine print…lol

Also - the forum is alive with these threads - mostly closed - but many offering snippets of ffmpeg/other commands to batch handle 'em once you’ve found 'em. I got tired of that search fairly quickly, but you may want to soldier on for a while.

My Google ask was:
plex how to find unknown audio
perhaps you can invent a better one.

yeh, I have the batch files for fixing the audio with the toolnix suite, I just couldn’t find a way to FIND the unknowns, lol… thanks, I will give it a look.

A’ight…

I wish you good fortune on the cure.

I am fortunate in that the special damaged part of my brain that controls my OCD has ensured ‘most’ of what lives in my Plexiverse has been tagged already. If something were to suddenly happen to annihilate the happy villagers living in my head - by making everything unknown - I’m not sure I’d survive…

Well, that link you provided says it’s for Unix/Unix-Like plex instances, so that was a bust… BUT, I did load up all of my files into media info, and while I was reading that page you gave me it finally loaded, and I exported it to csv file, loaded it into excel, and now it seems I have 245 movies (not bad when we’re talking out of ~3,000) that are unknown, now it’s just time for me to identify each language, toss the like-languages together in a folder, and run the batch script to add the language tags… shouldn’t be too terrible, even with sleep, food, and classes, I should have it finished by dinner tomorrow

Well hush my mouth…
a plan came together?
UFB.

I even have Xmedia Recode ‘trained’ to tag the video stream English (unless it’s Japanese or something) JUST IN CASE there are 608s aboard.

Destroy the Unknowns

BTW:

I’d never forgive myself for wasting this opportunity to point out a glaring ■■■■■ in the general design:

Please peruse these threads. I’m sure there is something in there to give you at least an idea:

I’m pretty sure he did - those were the same ones I found.

Seems this issue is now a non-issue…

The ‘Unfixable Unknown’, however - is still very real with no fix available - for anyone.
