Unrecognized Certificate

@BigWheel @ChuckPa
Not sure if this is related. I just upgraded to 1.23.3.4692 on windows and I’m also getting the error below (noted your 1.23.2. comment so I upgraded).

[CERT] TLS connection came in with unrecognized plex.direct SNI name ‘xx-xx-xx-xxx.39524109a3984285836214658731a50b.plex.direct’; using installed plex.direct cert

but get this right under it:

CERT: incomplete TLS handshake: sslv3 alert bad certificate

@crazyrusty What is the name of your server?

Vali.

@crazyrusty I think you might need to delete the cert-v2.p12 file in your caches folder in the plex data folder then restart your server. (if you are a Mac it will be in ~/Library/Caches/Plex Media Server)

Deleted but same error. I also have an issue where I need to uninstall and reinstall plex pretty much every time I restart it otherwise content wont play (available but says its not) and ‘server settings unavailable’ so I prefer not restarting

I made a new topic for you. Having to reinstall after a restart is a crazy thing to have to do so you might have multiple things going on. Would you mind messaging me your server logs

Your logs show you are on v1.23.1.4571

Do you have it running as a service?

This morning I uninstalled and went back to 1.23.1. Not running as a service (didnt know that was an option). With .2 or .3 I wasnt ever able to get anything to play

It isn’t a supported option, just something some folks do. Just wanted to make sure. Still looking at logs.

So after you upgrade just nothing will play or you can’t even access with Web or other apps?

Correct. For some time now I haven’t had access to the back end and was getting Server settings unavailable. Something happened a few days ago (I think it updated to 1.23.2.4562) and after that it wouldn’t stay running. I ran some of the db fixes and could get it to run but all content would attempt to play and then either give an error code or say content not available and still received settings not available. I tried a reinstall and it sort of worked. After a number of db repairs, restarts, reinstalls I was finally able to get it up and running. But then I saw that it was recommended to not be on 1.23.2 so I upgraded to .3 but then ran into the same issue.

Having said that, I have the same issue now if I restart plex. It takes longer than normal to pull up the page after it starts and then conent wont play and I wont have access to the server settings.

Been trying to figure this out and was talking with someone about the cert thing we don’t think it is the cause.

Jun 16, 2021 00:16:43.318 [8148] WARN - Sync: local sync directory "C:\ClusterStorage\Volume8\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Cache\Transcode\Sync+" does not exist

Did you just move transcode directory? is it there but server not seeing it?

I know you are probably getting a bit frustrated with updating/reinstalling but is is possible for you to update to the latest server that was released today 1.23.3.4706 and grab the logs after trying to play something

Do you have any sort of custom nonstandard network. I saw this. Jun 16, 2021 00:16:58.763 [5348] WARN - MyPlex: Invalid connection URL 'plex.crazyrusty.com'. which I don’t think would cause any problems but made me think there may be some network config I am not thinking of.

I did put in a specific directory for ‘Transcoder temporary directory’ for awhile but then took it out (c:\clusterstorage\volume8\transcodercache) but otherwise no.

the plex.crazyrusty.com was put into the ‘Custom server access URLs’ field but I took it out when I saw those same errors. It is generally how I get to the server via the web but it didnt seem to matter if I had it in there or not.

I’ll upgrade later today and send the logs

Here are the logs after I upgraded but havent restarted the PLEX application yet. In this case, it updates, I hit launch, and I can right click the icon in the task tray, open plex, and it pops right up. I can play things and get to server settings, no issues.
Plex Media Server Logs_2021-06-18_17-31-09.zip (4.3 MB)

After I restart the application is when the issue begins. After downloading the aforementioned logs I closed plex and opened it back up. The first noticeable issue is that if I right click on the icon and click on open plex, it opens the browser but it doesn’t load for a few minutes. When it does load, I can see my library items… but nothing plays and can’t get to server settings.

So, current status, can’t play anything, server settings unavailable

That zip file is just all the logs located at.

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Logs

ok, here are the most recent. I separated them out since it was over 30mb
Plex Others.zip (29.6 MB)
Plex Media Server only.zip (3.5 MB)

I see the ‘insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service’ errors but don’t understand what could cause them

Those look to be the thumbs created for browsing media created when you loaded app. But seems like it does not have access to that directory they are in for some reason after the restart

Looks like it is not deleting the temp transcoder logs either for some reason.

What kind of volume is C:\ClusterStorage\Volume8\ again?
Did you mount different storage with junction points into this folder structure?

Its a NAS attached via ISCSI to a win16 cluster, formatted NTFS (well, csvfs). No junction points, as I understand the term, though I do have a mapped drive to that location just for ease of access.

An update as well - things are playing but plex is super slow and still no access to settings. Last night I noticed it was still bringing in library items and currently has a lot of ‘transcoding media’ sessions going. The server is at 15% cpu which is relatively high as I’ve never seen it above 5% but overall the hardware side seems normal.

Just an update - Plex continues to run fine though it has crashed two or three times over the past week. Items play, no issues there. I still don’t have access to server settings but I am able to access server logs via the plexdash app and it looks like I still am getting the sslv3 error. I see there is a new version out that I’m not on, is any of this addressed in that?

Thanks
