Update my Ubuntu

Hello.

I have my Plex server running on Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS (GNU/Linux 4.15.0-213-generic x86_64) and I was wondering if updating my Ubuntu to 20.04.04 LTS would mess with the metadata of the Plex server? Or can I just run do-release-upgrade and everything should work as before ?

Should I take a backup of my Plex data and how do I do that ?

  1. I think it’s a good idea to have a backup of PMS anyway – covering worst case (upgrade itself fails)

  2. If you’re upgrading from 18.04, you might as well go to 22.04 and be done with it.
