I enjoyed the round table very much as it was nice to put faces and voices to the forum names.
Looking forward to more of them.
Thanks everyone for attending! I agree, it’s nice to be able to humanize the experience by putting faces and voices to names! We’ve got 2 more sessions coming up as well and there’s room in those if anyone still would like to register.

I’d love to, if I’m free. I don’t know when they’re scheduled.

I’m always confused with time zones… Is there one in 2 hours? That would be awesome!
Yes, just under 2 hours. 4:30 pacific = 7:30 eastern = 6:30 centra l= 5:30 mountain
@kinoCharlino So I just signed up. Do I need any special software? Do you use hangouts?
Edit nevermind, got the email.
who’s the players tonight?
how about you talk about how the nvidia shield is so so damn ass broken and incomplete

Love it for playback, but server part is nowhere close to what it should be. No premium music, 10 bit files can’t be transcoded properly, can’t use expandable storage…
With the latest news of Plex Cloud, here’s another few questions that I hope can be squeezed in:
Will there ever be improvements to Cloud Sync, such as having a dashboard similar to normal servers? It seems possible as even the older Plex Classic and rarPlex can show “Recently Added”, “Recently Aired”, etc.
Will the UI for the various apps be improved to no longer just have the 2 rows / infinite columns setup?
If an MKV contains a subtitle file, can it be usable for videos converted and uploaded via Cloud Sync?

They already said that all apps that share their UI with PMP (Playstation app comes to mind, I’m not sure about the Roku’s UI, don’t have one) will be migrating to a UI similar to the Plex for Kodi plugin.

Good to hear, though hopefully they will push that to the Cloud Sync’s dashboard, too.
Ever since Plex Classic was phased out, Cloud Sync (from a user PoV) has been pretty terrible.
Thanks everyone who attended the community roundtables and who provided feedback here! I wanted to provide you an update on what to expect out of the postmortem.
- All the discussions and feedback points will be transcribed and time-coded against the video recordings. This will allow you, and the product and dev teams to jump right to key points of interest.
- By the end of this week I’ll post the video recordings as well as the transcription notes.
- All the data collected gets delivered to the leads of the respective team responsible for the product or platform.
- After the holiday, I’ll be meeting with the product managers to review all the feedback, including what was posted to this thread and not covered in the roundtables.
While we can’t guarantee that all feedback will get implemented, or provide dates or roadmaps, know that the key folks behind the products will get an in-depth look at everything.
Thanks again for being a part of our roundtables. We like getting involved with our super fans, whether it’s in the forums or face-to-face!
Recordings Now Available
A big thank you goes out to everyone who attended! We enjoyed talking with everyone face-to-face. Couldn’t attend? Attended and want to see what it was like in other sessions? We’re making recordings of each session available for you to enjoy. To help you seek to the parts most interesting to you, I’ve attached a spreadsheet with notes time-coded against the videos. The notes are a high-level overview of what was discussed at certain points in time, not a play-by-play or a word-for-word recounting. If you see an interesting topic in the notes, check out the video for the full discussion on that subject.
After watching the 1st recording back I would like to add a few thoughts regarding things missed from the Plex Home Theater days that I would love to see make a return in some shape or form.
- I would love to see skin support return in some form once PMP has reached a conclusively solid UI / UX state where the design is final. Everyone loves options and I’m sure there are some creative individuals in this community who would love the opportunity to skin it to their liking.
- More subtitle options. I.e. the ability to manually override fonts to our own choice, colour, style, character set, the ability to override the location of the subtitles.
- TV theme music and the ability to adjust the volume level of said music.
- The ability to set audio delay in the GUI.
- The ability to set 16-235 limited colour range in the GUI. (toggle on / off )
- The ability to set the cache size.
And a personal request of mine… once the UI has reached a conclusive final design, true support for unusual (but increasingly common resolutions) that make use of all of the available screen real-estate i.e. 21:9.
Thanks for reading.

Just wanted to note I used Plex It! to queue the latest roundtable up for viewing ![]()
Regarding the “Plex Dance”, I’ve seen two scenarios which were not mentioned during the round tables.
-
The files do not show up in Plex at all, thus it is not a renaming or incorrect matching issue. By doing the Plex dance it triggers something somewhere to rescan the file and make it show up in Plex.
-
The files show up in Plex and are matched correctly, but only have partial metadata (particularly TV episodes). i.e. Episodes show up as “Episode 1”, “Episode 2”, etc. without the actual titles. Doing the Plex Dance can trigger the metadata to be downloaded. I’ve noticed that sometimes clicking “Refresh” on the TV show level also works, but refreshing at the episode level does not.
I have a couple other scenarios which can be solved with the Plex dance, but I think can also be solved with actions in the Web UI.
