I’m looking to develop a simple little a simple little script to move my newly downloaded files into their respective folders on my external hard drive. I would love to avoid all the hard work of parsing the filename and looking it up against the tvdb, so I would love to know where I can get the source for the default TV show scanner that Plex uses. It’s python, right?

If you don't get this off the ground, you could look at using something like sickbeard just for the post processing options - it will handle something like this for you with just a few clicks in its config.
Scanner sources are all on github so google should help you track them down.
Even better you can just use the script sickbeard uses dont need to install or use sickbeard. I believe it is python aswell although there are also exes availible I think.
