When playing videos on the Plex client on a MacBook M1, the CPU temperature is very high, over 90 degrees Celsius.
When not playing, the temperature is only around 40 degrees Celsius.
However, if you use Infuse to log in to Plex for playback, the CPU temperature remains at around 30 degrees Celsius.
Additionally, on macOS, the Plex client’s performance on the home page or other pages with a waterfall flow is noticeably sluggish and drops frames when scrolling up or down.
Server-side decoding has been disabled, and all videos are played directly.
Sometimes, enabling Hardware Decoding improves video playback performance, but the CPU temperature also reaches around 75 degrees Celsius.
You could try this.
Good luck,
Chris
