I want to know if Live TV DVR uses in any point the Transcoder temporary directory? I want to increase the speed of my server and I want to install Plex Server in SSD, but I read that transcoding could increase the wearing of the disk. Some solutions are using RAM as Transcoder temporary directory, but I don’t know if the Live TV DVR uses that like when it removes commercials.
It records directly to the hard drive where your TV media is stored. It does commercial removal from that drive. If you have it set to “transcode” that media (not even sure if this is an option in plex, I use MCEBuddy for this task) to another codec/container, it will use the transcoder temporary directory.
