66 poll votes and only 11 votes that count? Weak!
Yea i know. Need more up-votes not votes to the poll
take out the poll........
poll is closed you need to up-vote
Keep it coming
I’m a little miffed that the poll screwed up this request so badly! Maybe we could start a new one? This feature is necessary, and needs to be voted more. If the server becomes unresponsive, I want to be a will to go into my iOS settings, and restart the server from there. There are way too many times where the server is not acting properly, and we are not near a computer. Come on people! If you voted in the poll, vote again by using the little green “plus.”
me to we can still get this just need some people for everyone on the forums
Dont over look this idea!
I just use teamviewer to remote to my desktop and restart plex. Simple.
Be even more Simple to just added it to My Plex.
But what if TeamViewer doesn't respond? That's happened to me before...also with Splashtop. It should be possible within myPlex, especially for those times when you're away from home.
Um, could you clarify in the starting post if this feature is to restart PMS or restart the machine PMS is running on? Looking at the comments it seems that people are interpreting it both ways and to me personally it makes a difference. If this is to restart PMS from myPlex I am all for it (I was just recently looking for this and then had to install Teamviewer on my parents iPad just to restart PMS). If this is to restart the machine PMS is running on, then I am against it as my take on it is that PMS is just a service on my server and has no business whatsoever to fiddle with the rest of that server (just think your myPlex account gets hacked…), so I don’t think Plex should open that door.
I’m sorry, but this sounds like a terrible idea.
If your Plex Media Server is having problems so serious that you need to restart it this often, then you should try to work with the developers to solve the underlying issue.
If it’s your physical server that is crashing and you’re asking for a way to reboot it, then Plex isn’t the answer. There’s plenty of software available to remotely control machines. And again, you should try to find out why it needs to be rebooted, OSX is very stable and shouldn’t need to be rebooted more than once or twice a year.
This to me is like those ■■■■■■ wireless routers that hang so often, they even implemented a ‘feature’ to have the router reboot itself every day.
Has nothing to do with the server not working a lot of the time like anything nothing is perfect. And i for one am away from home and a nice restart from myPlex would be nice. Im on Mac OSX and also use a Apple Time Capsule and i shouldnt have to us another way to reboot Plex when it can be right on myPlex.
If plex and teamviewer aren't responding, you have bigger issues. You'll likely have a network issue at that point, and a network-supported plex restart switch isn't going to fix it anyways.
Maybe this is better as a plugin?
I always found that if that happened (freezing with Splashtop or TeamViewer), the app was at fault, and the Mac and server were still running fine. Could've been easy to fix with a simple restart from my myPlex page :) This is something I rarely deal with, but would be great still, especially for those times I'm not home for days, and something happens to my server.
