Is there any way to know the client that is played/paused/stopped media using the webhooks api? I would like to create rules in openHAB that say something ‘if the cinemaTV plays, turn off lights’; but, that isn’t possible unless I know the event was sent as a result of the cinemaTV and not a PC or phone or the living room tv.
Webhooks are a Plex Pass feature which allow you to configure one or more URLs to be hit by the Plex Media Server when certain things happen. You can use webhooks for any number of purposes: home automation (such as dimming lights when you start playback), posting to Slack or Twitter, or many other things. The webhooks can be consumed by a custom HTTP server, or a service like Zapier. Generally speaking, webhooks are a fairly advanced feature and won’t commonly be used by an “average” user.
