“What if” Plex were swallowed up by an entertainment studio.
Where would that leave us home media users..
Would the studio now have my personal information?
Would they know what movies/tv series I have.?
Watch history?
Who I share it with?
What other media outlets I watch, have service with?
and/or maybe they just pull the plug on the home library user…

That is actually a concern of mine - Plex has potentially access to a lot of information on our media servers. Even though they currently indicate they don’t collect it, I wonder if they would ever be coerced to share that information.
Once the JF clients get better, I plan to jump ship.
Then I move on to the next thing that lets me do it.
I’ve been doing this 20 years already starting with Windows Media Center, things come and go. Such is life.
I don’t care what they know I watch no one’s coming for you.
From the recent blog post regarding the updates coming in 2025:
“Personal media users: We do NOT, and will not, share or sell any information about your personal media or use of a personal media server, and, as we’ve consistently stated, we don’t even collect information about content or titles in your personal media library or what content is played from a personal server.”
