whats the best ras pi board for rasplex sever???

i have been running plex on my pc 24/7, simply for the fact that i can be assed turning on n off every time i wanna watch something. i have been wanting to get started on pi project (mainly for plex) but dont know what would be the best hardware for said project.
im pretty ok with my windows and pc know how, but not sure what to do or where to start when in comes to pi, so any suggestions would be very welcomed
cheers

RasPlex is a client (software), PMS is the plex server. You cannot run both at the same time on a single PI board.

For the server part you better ask in the Linux forum.

AFAIK, an odroid C2 is presently the pi board favored by many, because of its relatively high CPU performance.

If you want to run client and server on the same you better go the kody way. There are many guides around the forum that made a server / client with 2 boards. But if you want the simplest way (and probably the cheapest) to run a server you could look for some NAS servers that support Plex. You can even install the server on some routers and add an external HDD to them.

Transcoding is necessary for the best (and as-advertised) Plex “experience”. Even the latest Raspberri Pi 3 can’t do much if anything in the way of transcoding. So realistically, the Pi does not make for a good PMS unless you have limited, controlled clients, a limited and controlled network environment, and don’t mind pre-transcoding all your content.

Well any live transcoding cant beat a good pre-transcoding of the content. But its important to have in mind that live transcoding its out of the question on a Rpi PMS
