Is it time to merge 4K and 1080p libraries?
Will Plex transcode 4K movie or 1080p played on mobile?
Can someone confirm if this feature is enabled in the latest version (NON plex pass)? I’m asking because it sort of sometimes works, but it’s pretty confusing.
It works for some but not others. The difference, as far as I can tell, is that on the movie it was working for, it shows “Video 1080P” in the description in Plex (in that it’s seeing the 1080p version “first”). For the others it’s showing the 4K version in the description.
Looks like Plex is just playing whichever version is listed in the description on the info screen, it’s not actually making a smart decision on what to play.

EDIT: Wait, this is very confusing. It does actually work on the iOS app, in that it’ll just play the 1080p version. If I try and play in Plex Web though, it plays the 4K version.
