Seems obvious but …
The Guide says
" * For the “Plex TV Series” agent, it is recommended to always include the year alongside the series title in folder and file names, e.g. /Band of Brothers (2001)/Season 01/Band of Brothers (2001) - s01e01 - Currahee.mkv "
If the year is not present in TheTVDB title, where should I get the YEAR from?
I might guess that one should use the “First Aired” item, among the series details, but the FAQ does not explicitly identify where to find the year to use, if it’s not present in TheTVDB title.
I’ve seen in other articles, that sometimes the year is debatable. What does the Agent match against?
Thanks!
On the off chance that TheTVDB and IMDB disagreed on the year, which one should I use? I just want to make sure I’m referencing the definitive source that the scanning agent is comparing to my TV Show folder name.
Oh wow! I didn’t realize PMS was moving to tmdb (TheMovieDB.org) for it’s TV Show identification. Thank you for bringing that to my attention!! I was still going by listings on TheTVDB.com! I’ll start naming the files like you do
Is that just for the main folder or for all the episodes as well??
Just a follow-up, related question. Sometimes on TheMovieDB.org, I encounter a film that has a different YEAR, next to the title, than the year of the release date, on the line immediately below the title. It’s rare but it happens. In those situations, which YEAR should I use in my folder and file names? e.g.
Which YEAR does the media scanner use, for matching my movie?
