I’m using a GEO-IP filter on my firewall to block all connections to my Plex server from outside of the USA. I think the Plex server tries to connect back to Plex headquarters periodically. Does anyone know where Plex is headquartered? I’d like to whitelist their IP in my firewall.
Plex servers are kept in the Irish Amazon cloud. So that is a big list of IP’s to whitelist.

Why add ips? as ASNumbers. much easier for such ranges.
Paranoid much.
Why would this matter? Don’t you have to invite people in order for them to be able to access?

Probably for the same reason that people can’t access their own plex server when their internet is out.

That’s not his reason though but that is a good point

I can unblock IP’s per country. So i’ll just unblock Ireland as well as USA. I’m not paranoid, Just trying to learn firewalls and limiting my exposure to the lowest common denominator is usually best practice.

Port 32400 is open to everyone on the internet. Invite or not…

I never use 32400. I routinely change my remote access port in the Plex settings and in my router.

But whatever port you change it to is still open to the internet.

Of course it is, otherwise I can’t access my Plex server when I’m away from my house. You either have safeguards in place (Plex Server security + good firewall) and accept the risk, or you don’t use remote access.

Reducing the exposure that hits the open ports even further seems like a good idea no? My old firewall didn’t have country blocking built in, this new one does, Just figured I should use it since its there… I don’t use Plex outside of the US
