Why not make folder browsing possible in Sonos

I’m really fond of Plex. I run my Plex server on a Synology NAS and I listen to my music collection through Sonos. Since Sonos can no longer safely connect to a Synology NAS (since DSM 7), I use the Plex service in Sonos to reach my music.

But the only ways in which I can browse are “By Album”, “By Artist” and “By Playlists” (along with some automated suggestions like "More by " “Recently added”, “Recently played” or “Most played in August”).

It would be great to be able to browse by folder. That’s a real shortcoming, imho.

I know I can use the Plex Amp and cast to my Sonos, but that has some serious drawbacks with the volume control.

Did you vote for your own feature request?

Sonos S2 can connect to SMBv2/SMBv3.

For S1 systems, it’s no less safe than it ever was! In a home environment SMBv1 & NTLMv1 wouldn’t keep me up at night.

I agree about Plex Amp and casting to Sonos. I want to love it, and wish it was as good as the Spotify+Sonos integration. But it’s just not very reliable. :frowning:

There’s an existing feature suggestion asking for an option to access folder view from Sonos. I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to avoid distracting/dispersing votes.

Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion, I’ll close it as a duplicate.
