Why won't PMS v1.0.0.2261-a17e99e run under WIndows 10 Pro 64 Individual Preview Build 14383?

I agree. It’s strange.

I’m now running with a clean installation of Windows 10 Build 14390 from a self-constructed ISO. The only other program which I’ve installed, and which is not not inherent to the installation of Windows 10, is Plex Media Server, v1.0.1.2396-c094d0d, and the ancillary programs installed by the execution of the PMS installation distribution file.

The install(s) of Plex appear(s) to complete successfully (No errors - Launch button displayed at it’s conclusion). But when I click the displayed “Launch” button; the PMS icon in the Windows Start Menu;,double click it’s executable in File Explorer;, or click “Run as Adminstrator” from the executable’s properties menu; PMS appears to start, as it’s icon appears in the taskbar. But when I hover my mouse above it, the icon disappears. A review of the Windows Task Manager discloses that PMS is in fact not running. A brief amount of information is posted to the PMS log file, and a PMS crash log is generated, but no relevant entries entered into the Windows Events log.

It’s the lack of any relevant entry to the Events log that has me most puzzled.

For me it seams like some conflict on some level if it is port conflict or something internal dll that is messing up , to the point your plex logs shows it goes up to just before it starts initialization of network stack, try running netstat and look after relevant ports that plex uses, like these from my windows rig

TCP 192.168.251.40:32400 DESKTOP:50370 ESTABLISHED
TCP 192.168.251.40:32400 DESKTOP:50373 ESTABLISHED
TCP 192.168.251.40:32400 DESKTOP:50607 ESTABLISHED

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and suggestions.

Although this matter remains unresolved, I simply don’t have the time to continue pursuing a remedy.

That I have a working installation of Plex Media Server running under Ubuntu on another desktop computer is good enough for me. At least for now.

Thanks again.

Bugs on beta software are hard to reproduce without a nfo overview, I manged to get plex working on by win 10 insider setup, seeing as you were not i suspect there is at some level a conflicting .dll or startup process. Give me a shoutout if and when you have time and want to dig deep in to this issue, there are built in tools in windows 10 for debugging.

After upgrading my desktop computer’s installation of Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Individual Preview to Build 14393, and updating it’s installation of Plex Media Server to Version 1.0.2.2413, all is again running as it should. B-)

Hip, hip, hurrah!

Thank you for all of the constructive comments and suggestions.

: ) glad we could help, I know these issues are annoying, and difficult to debug.
